What's Your Favorite Number? 100 or Zero?

What’s Your Favorite Number, 100 or Zero

New International Version
Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop--a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. Matt 13: 8
I survey the field with wondering eyes:
rippling wheat only days from harvest and not a weed among them. How did the farmer do it?  Anyone who wasn’t ‘born yesterday’ as it were, knows that it just didn’t happen.
Maybe some say it was because the soil was fertile, but wait a minute, it’s the most fertile soil that gets choked with weeds if it’s neglected.
Maybe right now your soil is choked with weeds. Mine sure was for many years, weeds of bitterness, anger and unforgiveness, what crop there was looked weak and forlorn.
So what happened? The Master Gardener came, He helped to gently remove the weeds without disturbing the frail seedlings too much, and then He tamped down the tender plants, gave them enough moisture and loving care that I couldn’t believe how much they grew!
But those of you who know the Bible are probably saying: hey, wait a minute, Jesus said to let the tares grow along with the wheat. (Matt:13:30.)  The way I understand it, tares are very similar in appearance to wheat, and it would be detrimental to try yanking them out. The Bible says “an enemy hath done this.” A Christian needs to be vigilant; they need to guard their heart night and day so that an enemy doesn’t have a chance to sow wild seeds in our heart. He sure has a variety available for whatever our inclination might be at the moment.

Okay, one more question: what about this favorite number, bit? Well, do you want to let God produce whatever He wants in your heart, or are you going to turn away and pout if He doesn’t  do things your way?

Sometimes I wish He hadn’t given me such a tiny plot to cultivate, I guess He knows I couldn’t handle vast fields, but it is exciting to think how lush the growth can be if He guides my hands and my heart.
